ALTO
The ALTO is an all-metal light sport aircraft certified in the UL and LSA categories. At present, over 120 of these aircraft fly in different countries such as USA, Brazil, South Africa, Spain and many more. The ALTO is specially suitable for flying training and recreational flying, due to its robust design and predictable flight characteristics.
WingAn extremely thorough test program means the ALTO is safe and predictable across the entire flight envelope. The wing is a semi-monocoque structure and is equipped with built-in tanks with a total capacity of 100 litres of fuel. |
FuselageThe rear of the fuselage is designed with a rectangular cross section with an oval upper surface. The stiffness of the structure is assured by diagonal webs. The wing-fuselage link is completed by a dual spar and no less than fifteen precision fitted bolts.
Tail SurfacesThe horizontal stabiliser and vertical tail surfaces are of a traditional arrangement. They are made as a riveted structure with composite fairings
Flight controlsFlight control is by dual sticks and rudder pedals. The system uses heavy duty ball bearings which are strong and with no play - providing maximum feel while flying. There is easy access for both the aileron push rods and flap connection as well as the cables for elevator and rudder. Directional steering of the front landing gear leg is coupled with the pedals which allow a tight turning radius. The brakes are hydraulically controlled by a lever located on the center panel which simplifies flying, regular maintenance and operating cost.
Landing gear
The landing gear is strong yet light, with easy access for regular maintenance and inspection. The steerable nose wheel is directly connected to the rudder pedals for positive feel both in the air and on the ground. Small turn radius means manoeuvering on a tight apron is made with ease.
CockpitAccess to the cockpit is secured by means of two foot steps located at the trailing edge of the wing. The spacious, 1.1 metre wide cockpit provides plenty of room for comfortable control of the aircraft. The cockpit canopy slides forward and is mounted on rails which allow the canopy to be removed for ease of maintenance.
